TEAM PHOTOS
Winter basketball and Snowboard photos have been rescheduled due to our snow day earlier this year. They will take place this week on Tuesday, February 7^th. Please be sure students bring their uniforms to school.

GAME TIME CHANGES
The February 6^th game times against Bellows Falls Middle School have changed. The 8^th grade girls will play at 3:45 p.m.  The 7^th grade girls will be playing at 5:00 p.m.

NEED ATHLETICS INFO?
Now that Katie Story is settled in and getting up to speed, we encourage you to direct routine questions about team schedules, dates and times, bus departures, weather cancellations, forms, and paperwork to her. Katie will be available in the athletics office at 365-7355 ext 143 from lunch time until 4:30 every day except Wednesdays, when she will be there between 11:00 and 1:30. I will still be here and available to help you, as always, but with Katie's assistance, we can continue to improve our accessibility and responsiveness to you and your kids. If you need to reach me and get my voice mail, Katie will be able to track me down in the building, reach me when I'm off site, or let you know when I'm expected back.

METAMORPHOSES

Mark your calendars!  The Leland and Gray Players will present Mary Zimmerman’s METAMORPHOSES March 15 through 17 in the Dutton.  The second show in the Players 16^th season,  Zimmerman’s adaptation of several myths found in ancient Roman poet Ovid’s transformation myths is, in turns, wry, farcical, satirical and tragic. A rollercoaster of change, the script is an exploration of the poignancies and foibles of humankind.  With a cast of 25, original music, student-created scenography and many surprises, the Players' production promises to be edifying and entertaining.

HEY! You!!

As you all are coming to know, there are many new things being offered this Winter in the way of after school activities. I would like to highlight one that begins Monday partly because I have been so aware of a degree of stress in the air at school these days. Cheryl Cullen, a professional Yoga instructor, will be offering Yoga every Monday after school. Many people with stressful lives have a daily Yoga practice to help them manage that stress. And right here, at Leland and Gray, you can get a little taste of it for free! Please don't miss this opportunity. Meet in Ms. Hinds' room right after school. If you have a Yoga mat, bring it along.

Also on Mondays are Not-So-Heavy-Metal Steampunk Design with Kevin Burke--if you don't know what it is, ask Kevin to explain--a very cool fiber workshop called Spun Monkey (check out her website), a new study skills workshop called Planning for Success in Middle School, and as always, HEY! Help. Tuesday brings Ceramics with Ms. Wilson, Sound Scholars with Joel, Robotics with Peter Golrick (apparently, at the last session, the group launched a helicopter they had built!), Writing at Valley Cares, and after a brief vacation, D&D. Thursdays is another full line-up with Ms Wilson's Photography class, Guitar Club with Mr Sperling, World Drumming, and Bowling. We so hope that every one of you will try something new this year. STATE TOURNAMENT INFO FROM BREE:
I wanted to share with you what we know about the expected dates of the VPA state basketball tournaments. The tournaments are staggered, with the boys playing first. Here are the published dates:
BOYS
-- last day to play in the regular season: Feb 25
-- pairings posted Feb 27
-- playdown round Feb 28
-- quarterfinals March 2 & 3
-- semi-finals March 6 & 7
-- State Finals March 10
GIRLS
-- last day to play in the regular season: March 3
-- pairing posted March 5
-- playdown round  March 6 & 7
-- quarter finals March 9 & 10
-- semi-finals March 13 & 14
-- State Finals March 17
The first two rounds are played at the home court of the higher seed. The semi-finals and finals are played at the famous "Aud" in Barre.
