Dear L&G Families,

As we approach February 8th and the start of in-person instruction, there is quite a bit of information to share with you.  I have shared links for many important documents below:

Reopening Protocols (L&G Specific)

WCSU Symptom and Response Plan (for families)

Mask Information

Digital Version of WCSU Screening Form

Our Bell Schedules (Important for ALL students/families to read!)

MS Supply List

Bus Routes (on school’s website - please call West River Transportation with questions 365-9240)

Video Link explaining the new protocols (Rebel Report Episode 18!)

In addition, I want to take this opportunity to share a few important things about our reopening plan.  We will be holding a “Pick Up” materials day for (primarily) our Remote Academy students.  Teachers have already emailed students if they should come by to pick up any materials.  Not every teacher will be requiring this, so please check with your child.  Pick up is Wednesday, Jan 27th from 7am - 2pm.  Students may also drop off semester one materials at that time, as well.

You will also be getting a mailing soon with the following contents:

  • Q2/S1 Report Card
  • Letter explaining grading changes (similar to the one sent home after Q1 - there haven’t been additional changes!)
  • S2 Schedule (you may also access this in PowerSchool)
  • Hard copies of the WCSU screening tickets (to get each student started; add’l copies will be available in the first few days of “live” school.)
  • AIMS-Web results for those students who took that assessment this winter (MS)
  • Document finalizing your child’s cohort assignment (original letters were sent in December, but some changes have been made. If you didn’t request a change, and didn’t hear from us, your child’s status should be the same as that letter in December.)

Finally, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we’ve worked hard to prepare the building for the safest possible return for your children.  As we all know, educational quality isn’t the same with fully remote learning, as students miss out (minimally) on social interactions which are critical for their mental well being as well as greatly amplify the quality of learning.

If you have any questions about the procedures, I will be hosting a parent information session via ZOOM at 6pm on Tuesday, February 2nd.  The link is below.

I sincerely hope you’re all enjoying health and making the best of our current challenge.  Please reach out to me with any questions!

Very sincerely,

Bob Thibault

Principal
